Our History
Built at the turn of the century, our hard working nursery barn was formerly part of the Stocker Family dairy farm, housing milking cows that supported the local area. While it has been added on to and received modern updates over the years, it has retained its rustic charm. With all of the original frame work, flooring, and windows, one can appreciate all of the vintage attributes that make this building such a timeless piece of history. By the 1980s, the barn transferred occupations to the antiques trade, which has left quite an impression on its character and can still be seen around the grounds.
Our Story
Today, we are a working farm using 60 acres where we grow ornamental nursery stock. The trees and shrubs that we grow are of higher quality and less cost to our customers, selected specifically for their hardiness to our area. Our growing garden center is laid out over six acres just south of downtown Snohomish. A true gardener’s retreat, we are only a short distance from the urban centers of Seattle, Bellevue, and Everett. Open skies over vast farmland and spectacular views of the majestic North Cascades are some of the beautiful sights to behold in the scenic Snohomish Valley.
Our nursery is constantly changing and growing so as to offer new inspiration with each visit. Outside the barn are seasonal display tables that demonstrate vibrant combinations of plants, colors, and textures. Flagstone and paver pathways enhance the experience through the nursery, allowing for easy access to all plant material. Our garden center offers many covered areas, suitable for our Northwest weather, all organized by plant types and sizes for easy browsing. Plant displays throughout the grounds provide insight and creative vision to the great possibilities of what can be achieved with stylish new varieties and steadfast classics.
The large red barn that used to be home to dairy cows now serves as “The Garden Store.” The inside has been transformed to house unique décor, locally crafted artisan pieces, garden stone, handcrafted pottery, garden care products, our office, and check-out register. Rustic country elegance combined with a large selection of high quality plant material, along with our helpful and knowledgeable staff, makes McAuliffe’s Valley Nursery an experience you will want to revisit.
